St. Patrick’s Day: Vancouver Fundraiser

St. Patrick’s Parade – Vancouver, March 15th, 2008 (via Vida Portatil

It’s St. Patrick’s day, time to grab a huge jug filled with green beer and have fun! I am not Irish, but it’s impossible to resist the Irish carnival that happens on St. Patrick’s day.

Inspired by the Irish life style, my coworker Romanda Simpson and her friends Amanda and Suzie Q are hosting a St. Patrick’s Comedy Night Fundraiser tonight at Lafflines (New Westminster – right beside Columbia Skytrain station). Tickets are only $10.oo and the money will be used to fund their participation in the 2010 Mongol Rally edition. Since I met Romanda in 2008, she has been talking about the day that she will leave from London, England to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in a 1L car. Her team 3 blondes and a beater is currently raising money to register in the rally and buy a car. By helping Romanda and her friends you’ll be directly supporting two important Mongolian charities – Children and Young People’s Protection and Development, and Christina Noble Children’s Foundation.

If you’re thinking that Romanda, Amanda and Suzie Q are not serious about this crazy adventure, you should know that  Romanda just came back from Vancity’s Terminal Avenue brach with a money order for 3 blondes and a beater‘s Mongolian visas!
