Day #46: 30 Days to 30: My Mother

Day #5: She is responsible for making me a perfectionist and a complete nut case. Yes, she drives me crazy and makes sure that I am always worrying about something when she is around. But she is also the most important person in my life. Because of her, I was able to pursue my dreams while growing up. I went from being an actress to an aspiring journalist in one week and she never questioned my decision. She never recriminated me for impulsively marring the man of my dreams even though she was quite upset with the fact that I eloped.

My mother is the most awesome person in the world. She managed to keep her career while raising me and after I left Brazil, she got promoted and grew her personal network. My old lady is the most independent and the smartest woman that I know. We’ve been through a lot together, but as time passes I wish to be more like her!

An award-winning digital strategist experienced in creating integrated campaigns for local and international brands and non-profit organizations, Veronica Heringer currently serves as Transmedia Strategist for Smokebomb Entertainment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), and recently completed a Masters of Arts in Media Production at Ryerson University. Her Ryerson project, My Name is Jessica Klein, explores the connection between content, new technologies and audiences through the use of social media and won the 2012 Innovative Storyteller $20,000 Mentorship Initiative Award from marblemedia, a Toronto-based transmedia producer, and Corus Entertainment.
